Well, the insurance company that represents my old school district has declined to provide legal counsel and I’m on my own to find and fund my defense. Looking for a good attorney is not an easy task. I’ve talked with a few and narrowed it down to two. One should let me know later today if they are interested in the case and if their firm has any conflicts. The other is interested and has quoted a retainer of $25k, with half due up front. Yee-haw. I guess the idea is to win this one, then go after the insurance company.
Thanks guys, I really do appreciate it. Under advice of counsel I’ve reached out to my insurance agent to see if I’m covered and asked for a two-week extension to file a response (which the scum-sucking bottom feeders approved!). That takes a bit of the pressure off.
In the meantime I’m doing the best I can to keep the darkness at bay.
Big Route tonight. We already had some snow today. We are expecting more. That’ll be fun. I’ll have my space-age thermals with me. I don’t wanna get sick again.

I wish I could say, or do something to ease this burden. I feel powerless to help.
