I read that it’s official: Finland is now part of NATO. Celebratory media hype about how that will show Putin he made a mistake. Really? Do they honestly believe that Russia is going to do some soul searching now and realize its mistakes or are they going to take it as another threat? I would bet on the latter.
Doing some research, I find that Finland spends 1.5% GDP on defense, whereas the NATO regmt is 2.0% and that its 2023 Military Strength Ranking is 51 out of 145. Does Finland strengthen NATO or is it going to be another European “ally” that America will have to constantly support?

In re Finland -- at least they’re spending more as a percentage of GDP than Germany is. There is no good reason to add another country to NATO, and certainly not one that borders Russia.
This whole Trump arrest thing is so much bullshit that the only thing that will save the media from looking even more asinine than they usually do is some other shiny object. I’m thinking it’s about time for Jimmy Carter to kick the bucket.
