Excellent thread-pic, Mac! I know I’ve made that expression more than a few times.
Yesterday was a beautiful day for wine tasting and we had a great time. I’ve got some work to do today and Teh Younger and his girlfriend are going out whale watching this morning. Mrs. Paddy will be busy with making some of the appetizers for the reception.
So I seem to be on a morning schedule. That’s good, I’m taking a off of work so I can actually SLEEP at my sleep study. Harper is going to go with me. We have to be in Prescott by around 8 pm on Friday.
I’m slowly working my way back into the world of the living.
My best to you and Harper — the thread above is the one I told her about when she called. Fair warning, it’s only funny if you a) don’t like flies and b) are aware of medieval torture methods.
Good morning, Mac, dv8 (and Harper!), and BrendaK!!!!111!!!
It’s so good to “see” you all!
dv8 -- good luck with the sleep study.
BrendaK -- regarding flies’ heads on pikes: a good friend did his LDS mission in the jungles of Peru. In one location he had a terrible problem with cockroaches. He could kill them, but he couldn’t deter them. That is until the day he got so fed up with them that he impaled one, put it on a rock outside his hut, doused it with lighter fluid, and set it on fire. He never had another problem with cockroaches after that.
I had to paste the thread pic into Brave in order to see it, because I’m banished to TOR again. I wonder just how many sites are affected.
I looked into it a while ago, and it seems like it’s a DNS misconfiguration that some sites have and that Not all ISPs compensate for.
When this happens, I can get the wheel on my phone if I turn my wifi off and use Verizon Data. But on my home internet, I have to use TOR when this happens.
TOR is essentially like using a VPN but a free, user run peer-to-peer network. There are even sites that you can only get to through TOR: Sites that have a .onion domain.
Anyway, you can get such sites on TOR because, of course, TOR has it’s own DNS which does compensate for the whatever-this-is.that happens with these misconfigured sites.
On the other hand, the problem of certain sites not resolving, might just “read” as a misconfiguration. It might be that the wheel and a few other sites are on a block list that some ISPs use. I really am not sure.
And, I’m too lazy to find out, and tech savvy enough to circumvent it when it happens.
Another thing I could do is run my Own DNS, which I have done in the past. BIND is free, although hard to configure. SimpleDNS is easy to configure but not free.
But I feel like I can get most things to work okay so I don’t bother.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!

I think all married men have worn that expression.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I think since, Caturday.
It was nice to see Brenda on yesterday. I just had a look back a week or so.
Prayers for those who need them, and those who don’t. Which, when you think about it, is Everybody, and Nobody, respectively.
So, I’ve been over at Quora — the idea is, someone somewhere posts a question and people answer the question.
Question: If I annihilate every fly that enters my home, will word spread to stay away?
And my favorite answer: Only if you take their heads and stick them on toothpicks outside your front door.
For solutions ranging from Raid to the Roman Empire, Genghis Khan, and Vlad the Impaler: https://www.quora.com/If-I-annihilate-every-fly-that-enters-my-home-will-word-spread-to-stay-away
I laughed, but I’m a little macabre that way…
Oh, hai!
hi. I saw you on yesterday. But I’ve been working and sleeping, so I just now caught up.

I don’t know what I’m doing today.
I guess I’ve been researching a couple of projects. I’m not getting very far, but I’m not getting nowhere either.
Researching projects is a start. It beats just sitting around and thinking about them.
yup
Good evening boys…and girls! A rough week -- hope you all are doing well.
Good evening, Sven! It’s good to see you again. I’m sorry you’re having a rough week. You’ve been through a lot. Prayers that things improve.
Glad to see you despite your rough week.
Harper is awake and says “Send him my love.” So that…
is what I am now doing.
Tonight is my night off. and tomorrow evening is my sleep study.
Wish me luck.
