I have mixed feelings on the latest Trump indictments. It might be that Trump broke some type of federal law and is guilty of that. It also appears that whatever law is cited as having been broken, is not applied equally to others that appear to have done the same thing. What I would like to see discussed/debated is why Trump is being prosecuted, but no one else is.
I have no doubt that Trump is being wronged and prosecuted not as a matter of law, but rather of politics->selective prosecution. However, I don’t think that just because he’s a victim, that that justifies him being POTUS again or my vote.
The Republicans have two choices going forward post 2024. They can either root out corruption at the Federal level and investigate/prosecute Dems based on the same rules that the left has been playing with the last 10 years, or they can do what they have in the past: take the “high road -- for the good of country -- muh principles -- put all this behind us and focus on what’s important to the American people” and get beat up again by the left once they get power.
Julie Kelly again on why the worse may be yet to come for Trump.
Smith’s ongoing investigation into January 6, however, poses far greater legal jeopardy for Trump. Potential charges include obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to obstruct, and witness tampering. Smith could pursue a seditious conspiracy count against Trump; six members of the Oath Keepers and four members of the Proud Boys, so-called “militia” groups involved in January 6 and tangentially tied to Trump, have been convicted by Washington juries of the rare, Civil War-era charge. Convictions have resulted in sentences as long as 18 years in prison. Smith could file January 6= related charges within the next several weeks.
I’m becoming more comfortable with the idea that America, as originally envisioned, is done and that civil war or a collapse and rebuilding is inevitable. I’m “comfortable” with it because every nation/country/empire in human history has gone through the same thing.
Happy Brave Kitteh Friday, Gerbil Nation!
A good day to you, Sven!
Today is graduation day at my school and I was supposed to work the events (high school, 8th grade, and kindergarten) from 9:30am to 5:30pm. I wasn’t feeling good last night, so I went to bed early. I was feeling miserable when I got up -- chills, aches, brain fog, raspy voice -- and a hot shower only helped so much. I ended up calling the director of the school and bowing out. I headed back to bed and slept for another 4 1/2 hours. I don’t think I’m going to get much accomplished today.
It really seems like the most important thing for you to get accomplished today is to rest so you can recover. Looks like you have a decent start going on that.
I have a quiet house again, sort of. Elena’s brother in law got back from the vacation and ended up in the ER soon after. He had stents put in his heart before but it looks like he will need a bypass this time, so that is scheduled for next week. Elena was home for a couple of days and went back to help, so she will be there at least until next week. The cats will probably be here until next week as well. Went to the store today for more litter and cat treats (and some junk food for me).
It’s a ballsy maneuver, even for a cat.
Good morning, GN.

Hope the rest did you some good, Paddy. Like Mac said: rest.

Sorry to hear about Elena’s BiL -- sorrier too about you being stuck with the cats again. Bummer.
The cats are here still. They were going to go home on Monday or Tuesday, but now it looks like next week. We are getting along fine.
We know you have to type that.
Heh. Meghan McCain, of all people, sees the light.

Hey.
Didn’t wake up until late afternoon.
Fed the trees,
Watered the plants.
Then we kinda just both hung out a watched videos.
Harper fell asleep on the couch, but she seems to want to stay there for a while even though I was coming in here (the office)
