Good morning, GN. Couple of fires burning south of us, Riverside County, today. Going to be a hot one.
Something I’ve never seen before -- working in my office this morning and a loud bang on the window -- a good sized brown bird -- not sure of species -- had crashed into the window and was lying stunned on the walkway. It moves its head and a wing twitches, so I’m thinking it’s probably OK. Then a ground squirrel runs over to it, bites it behind the head and runs off with it. By the time I get outside, the squirrel is gone and not sure if the bird recovered enough to get away.

One of Mrs. Paddy’s uncles and his family are moving to Massachusetts and his wife wants to get together with everyone before they leave. The drive to their place is too long for my MiL, so we’re having everyone over at our house. Mac know what that means -- cleaning, menu planning, shopping, cooking, etc. We settled on meat and veggie skewers, with the meat marinated in a carne-asada type marinade, cilantro-lime rice, and esquites (Mexican street corn in salad form). Hopefully it will all go well.
Well… we were going to have about 2 days of extreme heat up here. But I looks now like it will be three.
108 today and tomorrow, and then 106, after which it will drop to below 100 again.
I got up in the early afternoon and watered all the herbs and even the trees in the back. There are also a few roses in the back. They have deep roots, but I gave them some water just to be on the safe side.
I feel like I should be going out somewhere, being with people and stuff, but I can’t make myself do it.
On the other hand, It looks like Harper’s Dental stuff is making some progress. Much of it will take a long time, but it looks like we’ll be getting a pretty good solution.
That’s great news! You both should be feeling pretty good about that. Now that Teh Older has dental insurance (yay, benefits!), he’s getting a number of issues taken care of. Once that’s all done, he can switch to a lower cost plan, but he realizes that ignoring things is not a good way of proceeding.
