Monday. Bleh.

Good morning, GN -- still raining out here, but nothing heavy and nothing at all like last winter.

DeSantis is out. He was my pick for POTUS, but it’s clear that no one was going to best Trump, so good on him for not dragging this thing out. I still believe that it isn’t going to be Biden on the other side and that the Dems will pick a new candidate at their convention.

Happy Struggling ‘Coon Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!

Sven -- I agree in re DeSantis. It’s pretty clear that Trump is the pick on the Republican side, despite how much we hear people can’t stand him. I also agree that the Dems have their preferred candidate, and they aren’t going to let their choice be derailed by minor inconveniences, such as voting.

Did you fill out your 25 page questionnaire this weekend?

Good morning, Paddy -- we had to complete it before we left Friday. If they don’t call me today saying don’t come, I’ll be back out there tomorrow.

How comforting to know that if you die suddenly, your cats won’t have to starve to death.

My opinions are all over the place regarding the election. I think, though, that we may be living in a post election civilization, whether we wish to admit it or not.

As a fellow sperg, Desantis gives me hope that I could myself get as far as the governor’s office (if I had such ambitions, which I do not!) I took notice, in the beginning, when he was briefly polling higher than DJT, although I was concerned that it was probably the “Kasich effect” buoying up his numbers. However I think one has to admit that his candidacy game was dismal. Not him personally. He is who he is, clearly. But he got very poor advice, as well as action, from his team, in my opinion. I’m grateful that he edged out Rino Nikki in Iowa, even with all her Hillary voters switching over. That was very funny!

Regarding DJT, I guess I have to admit I want the Grover Cleveland moment, as the meltdowns would be (insert chef’s kiss here). It will be very entertaining, and since I consider the whole show to be All-about-me(tm), 5 more years of entertainment, starting now, would be awesome!

People think Ron can’t be vice presidential running mate at this point, too much bad blood. But I don’t rule out that happening. Keep in mind Kamala Harris called Joe Biden a Rapist, a Racist, and, I think possibly a traitor (although I’m not certain if I remember that she went there)… Anyway, at least two out of three, is my point, and he still picked her. So I wouldn’t necessarily rule that out.

With Ron, you get Maga minus Trump, essentially. So you put them together and you may get additional votes. Although probably not that many liberal converts. As a good nuts and bolts politician, he would be highly effective as VP or in the cabinet, but the purpose of the VP pick is mostly to garner additional votes.

Someone like Tulsi Gabbard would possibly bring in more left of center votes. Not that she would be my pick, necessarily, but she is a good example of what you need. When The Donald first ran, he picked Pence because he was a political insider, so would give the impression that DJT, the outsider, could benefit from an insider’s perspective. A Pence type wouldn’t be an asset now.

In some early polling A Trump DeSantis ticket polled higher than any other combination, I believe, but that was very early on, so take it with a grain of salt. That being the case, stranger things have happened.

Someone mentioned Ben Carson as a possible VP pick for Trump -- I think that would be a great choice, but Tulsi Gabbard would work too.

By the way, and I’m telling you all this for no particular reason, I’ve been letting my hair come in grey all this last year. So I have got about 8 inches of dark grey going. No more dying. I decided that even for the camera, if I do go back to streaming, it’s probably dark enough. In moderate to low light conditions, my dreads look dark anyway. My beard on the other hand is bone white. So I’ve still been combing a bit of Grecian Formula into it about once a week to get a steel grey color to match the rest of my hair. That’s not too much of a pain to do. In fact… I’m about a day overdue for that, so I’d better go do it.

Okay… Done. At this point, the only place on my face that has my natural color left on it is my eyebrows. Which have to be trimmed pretty regularly, lest I display a Lloyd Bridges kind of effect.

Also… Still no unemployment benefits. I actually have to file an appeal, I guess. Which I did today. I guess I’ll end up working at the local grocery here, or something. I’ll probably never be able to get a real job. I just don’t get the grownup corporate world, and the older I get, the less I get it.
