Today starts finals week at my school. High school students have to sign up for a time to take their final exam in my virtual classroom. About 2/3 of my students have signed-up as of this morning. We’ll see how many actually show up to their time slots.
They have until the end of the week to take the final. I sent out emails to those that didn’t show up (with copies to their parents and their supervising teacher) and told them to sign up for another day and time. The last time available is 1pm on Friday. If they don’t show up then, they’ll get a zero for the final.
I just finished putting everything away as this last wind/fire thing ended and I get this:
RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY 8 PM PST FOR MOST OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES FOR EXTREMELY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND PERIODS OF GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS… .The Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Red Flag Warning has ended, but dangerous fire weather conditions will persist through Thursday or Friday.
The PDS acronym makes me laugh. Everything has to have one.
Happy Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!

HI, Paddy -- is your school on a semester schedule?
Yes, we are.
Of the 8 students who signed up to take their exam this afternoon, only three showed up.
Is that an automatic fail or do you give them another chance?
