Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!
Mrs. Paddy decided that she’d go into work today, instead of working from home. Her Honda hybrid had different ideas. After not being driven for about 3 weeks, Mrs. Paddy was unable to open the trunk. I tried the interior release, but that didn’t work, either. It turns out the battery was too low. I tried opening the hood, but couldn’t find the secondary latch release (there’s stuff in front of the car, so I was standing off to the side.) I finally moved the stuff in front of the car and was able to open the hood easily. Now where the heck is the 12V battery? I had to go online to find out where to attach the battery charger. You remove a cover to find a positive charging point. The negative is located next to the engine block. The batter itself is located in the center console. Once I put the charger on it, the car started right away.
Did it charge up sufficiently after she drove to work? Three weeks is a long time not run a vehicle, but I don’t know that it would have dropped the battery that much -- time for a new battery?
It appears to have charged enough. The 12V battery only runs the accessories and electronics. The high voltage battery runs the starter. That battery still had 50% charge (I don’t know what state it was in when the car was parked). All that was needed was enough current to enable the electronics, then the high voltage system could start and run the car. It wouldn’t hurt to have the 12V battery tested.
Lidocaine is my new friend. The diabetic ulcer on my left ankle has gotten bigger and worse. I started being able to cover it with a 2″ gauze pad. This weekend I had to start unfolding a 4″ to 4x8 to cover the open area. I have been trying to get a referral to a wound specialist for weeks but they either never reached out or the one referral I got turned out to be out of my insurance network. I asked for another referral and this morning I got a call that none of theirs were in network so I should reach out to my insurance to get a name and then let them know. My doctors and my insurance are both BS&W so I am surprised. Yesterday I tried entering “diabetic ulcer” in the portal for suitable doctors and it gave me the info on an Orthopedic Surgeon at the facility where my other doctors are located. I thought he probably only did surgery but this morning I called and left a message. His PA called me back and said that he would see me so I have an appointment for tomorrow. It is a relief. Even if he does not treat this he can advise if it is something needing attention and guide me in how to treat it. I have asked several doctors if there was something better for me to use and gotten nothing, just told if it gets worse to see a wound specialist, which I have been trying to do for weeks now. First time I have been disappointed with Baylor. I was shocked to get an appointment for the next day. They have had good specialists but it usually takes weeks or months to get an appointment. Elena is much relieved, she has been pushing me to go to urgent care or ER. I think this is better but I was thinking I might have to give in.
I don’t seem to have any symptoms of that. The damaged skin hurts when touched or flexed and the foot and leg up to the knee are swollen. There is itching at times but I don’t think this is surprising.

Good morning, GN.
That’s good news about Mrs. Paddy and I applaud Mac for sharing that coons are smarter than cats.

So that’s my morning, so far.

Hope it does not need anything expensive.
I doubt it will.

I’m glad you are finally able to get someone to look at it, Mac. An ulcer that large is nothing to mess around with. Do you also have neuropathy?
I don’t seem to have any symptoms of that. The damaged skin hurts when touched or flexed and the foot and leg up to the knee are swollen. There is itching at times but I don’t think this is surprising.
Echoing Paddy -- glad you have someone to look at it. Could it just be infected and require antibiotics?
… or the services of a perfectly good raccoon?
I am not that desperate yet. I do agree about what is a good racoon though.
That’s reaching back, Mac, but good not to be forgotten.
I don’t think it is infected or I would have gone to the ER. It is very swollen today and yesterday, I am glad I am going tomorrow.
Prayers for you tonight,Mac, and good luck tomorrow.
Thank you, but my thoughts are with you and Mrs. Sven, and Mrs. O’Furnijur. Elena sends her prayers for your wife. Mine is an annoyance.
I’m sure you meant your skin ulcer is an annoyance, not Little Mouse.
