Thanks, guy. This is bad news, but not the worse possible news. She had a breast biopsy last week and we were waiting on the results to be posted. Her PCP’s office called Wednesday and said she wanted to see her and we assumed it probably had something to do with the biopsy. So it turns out she has breast cancer -- that’s the bad news. The not terrible news, if we can call it that, is that it is breast cancer, not metastasized ocular melanoma which would have been close to game over.
It’s a small tumor and the path forward is likely a lumpectomy followed by external beam radiation. Appointments already set for July 7 to get things going.
So in less than two weeks, she’s broken her nose and then diagnosed with another cancer. And we have to manage this treatment along with all the other crap that goes along with the ocular melanoma and we still don’t know the status of that.
I can’t say enough about her PCP doctor. She blocked publication of the biopsy results so she could discuss them with us face-to-face and she didn’t do it over the phone. Contrasted with the “world-renowned” ocular oncologist who had a clerk assistant explain over the phone those biopsy results that indicated Mrs Sven has maybe 2-3 years left.
Sorry for this here on a Friday and all -- I’m trying to process things.
Sven -- we’re here for you for whatever you need. If you need to talk, you can do it here, through email, or give us a call. If you need to vent -- pick whatever platforms you feel comfortable with. If you need distraction, Mac can set you up with some annoying cat videos that Jack Tatum can emulate.
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!

Hi, Paddy.
Some more bad news for Mrs. Sven this morning -- 2025 is turning out to be a not good year for us.

Sven -- I’m so sorry to hear that. I know this has to rough on both of you. You deserve some good news, for a change.
I am so sorry, Sven.
