Good morning, GN. Yes, it is still morning. Today is a better day for both me and Mrs Sven altho many medical issues. On the very good news side, Mrs Sven underwent retinal detachment surgery -- detachment caused by her ocular tumor -- and it went very well as confirmed by a follow up exam this morning. How much of her vision will be restored is anyone’s guess, but anything more is better than nothing. They also seemed to, after three prior surgeries, to have figured out the correct anesthesia mix as her time in recovery was minimal and without all the other problems she experienced previously.
On my end, I have apparently torn a slough of my corneal epithelium layer causing much intense pain over the last couple of weeks. Treatment last week was ineffective so today they cleared the dead cells and put a clear/contact lens over it to stop further erosion and give it time to heal. I haven’t slept for more than a half hour at a time in the past week, but hopeful that tonight will be different.
Me and Mrs Sven have tried to do everything on our own, but circumstances yesterday and today made that impossible and some friends stepped up to help. We could not have gotten by without them and I thank God that we still have friends nearby.
That’s some serious medical issues, my friend. I’m glad Mrs. Sven’s surgery went well, as did the recovery from anesthesia. Prayers for significantly improved vision for her. I’m sorry about your eye. Hopefully the contact lens will allow you to both sleep and heal. Prayers for a speedy recovery for you, as well. I’m glad you’ve got friends nearby. I know it’s hard to ask for help, but that’s what friends are for.
I baked another batch of ciabatta rolls today. I haven’t had any, but it sure did smell good. Most was par-baked and will go into the freezer, but a few were fully baked for dinner this week.
Happy Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
I hope all y’all are doing well!
Thread pic: I hear they tend to scare off the other birds.

Sven, that sounds like good news but I am so sorry you both are dealing with these issues. I am so glad you have friends close to help.
