For years and years, Mrs. Paddy has put pumpkins out on our front porch. Some years they were later carved into jack-o-lanterns, but we’ve never had any issue with them. This year, at least one rat has been feasting on one of the pumpkins. I didn’t notice it until Thursday night, so yesterday I put out a rat trap and caught the bugger. I’ll put it out again tonight and see if I get any more.
About a week after the pumpkins start showing up in the stores, she’ll grab a few to decorate the front porch. As long as you don’t open them, they’ll last quite a long time.
