I called Monday and that was the soonest I could get in. It is almost an hour drive away but it was the closest that is in network and I can’t afford to pay out of pocket. Just have to do what I can. It seemed to be healing and just had a spot about half dollar size, but now is spreading again. It gives off so much liquid the gauze is soaked and the surrounding skin goes soft and opens from being wet. I am trying ways to control it.
The problem is it is a wound specialist, not a foot doctor. They are less common. There is a wound center close and I was referred to a Doctor there twice, but she is not in network with my insurance. I have an appointment with my primary care doctor tomorrow morning and will stop in there to see if any doctor there is in network. Not likely but that is the case with my dermatologist. The center is no longer in network but my doctor is.
Just the diabetes. He thought the procedures on the veins would solve the problems but it has not. I have figures out how to keep a lot of compression on the lower leg once the sores heel but heeling is hard with the sores giving off so much fluid. The fluid soaks the bandages and effects the other skin around the wounds. Today I tried leaving it unwrapped and just soaking up the liquid, hoping the other skin would improve, but without compression things swell and the wound area spreads. I now have a large absorbent pad on and extra compression. I will see how it does tonight. I am using a high compression sock, and a compression sleeve. It is the closest I can come to what they do.
I went Tuesday morning for my face and they also looked at the leg. They wanted to admit me for IV drugs but I declined. They gave me one IV antibiotic and prescriptions for two others. They seem to be working well on the face. We had hoped they might help the foot but that is really not an infection. I have been luck until this year with being diabetic not doing much damage but this caught up with me. Been eight months now. If it becomes much I could go back to ER but they can’t really do much other than treat infection and it is not nearly as bad as it was a few months ago. It’s just frustrating.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!

How are you feeling today, Mac?
Doing better on the face, thank you. The antibiotics seem to be working.
Foot is getting worse and I am at a loss. I will see the wound doctor on next Thursday. Hope it does not get too bad by then.
Sadly, one damn thing after another. Good on the eyes; can you not get in any quicker on the foot doctor or go elsewhere?

Prayers for healing, my friend. Has the wound specialist said anything about the cause of these ulcers?

Perhaps an ER trip is in order? Insurance ought to cover that.

Awesome. Clearly Harpers prayers worked like a charm!!
Good morning/afternoon/evening, Mac and Paddy.
I could actually hear that thread picture! It was as vivid as the smell of the 70s living room I see on the internet here and there.
