True. Speaking cats eating, Virgil the orange feral still gets fed here every night, but that’s it. Cannot get close to him and he’s not interested in hanging out. Tough bugger and he looks healthy -- figure close to 7 pounds -- and he’s survived a lot of cold wet weather the last three months.
Happy “Felonious Fowl” Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
Today is the last day of the first learning period of the second semester (there are four learning periods per semester). That means most every student is rushing to turn in work -- or what passes as work -- before the end of the day so they can tell their parents that they are “on track” and “keeping up with their school work”. That also means I’ve got a metric carp-tonne of work to grade and will have even more on Monday morning.
Interesting -- breaking the semester up into learning periods. Is a period just a block of time or is there more to it than that? Like a focus on something.
The learning period is just 20 days of schooling. It’s tied to state requirements for independent study -- the maximum allowable time between when something is assigned and when it is due is 20 days. We’re also required to meet with parents every 20 days.
Took Mrs Sven out last night to see Beth Hart perform locally. It was over at the Canyon in Agoura and I’ve rarely seen the place so packed with fans. Its max capacity is around 1100 and they easily hit that. An acoustic performance with Hart mostly playing piano accompanied by her guitarist and drummer with a small drum kit. Mrs Sven enjoyed it and there’s no arguing that Hart at 55 or so still has the vocal chops, but the whole set and 4-song encore were mostly too slow for my taste. I like her best when she rocks a bit and just sings -- good command of the stage even when sitting down.
This was the concert clip that turned me on to her -- a great song that I may have shared before: Fat Man. The line, I like you Jesus but I love the dope, is just so perfect.
Thread pic: True, but your odds of being killed are higher if you replace waterfowl with cat.
Happy Friday, GN.
True…cats are more capable at most things.
Cats have to eat too.

Listening to some of her work, I have to agree, Sven. I like her faster pieces better.

Great song and a great story.
It’s the end of February and it’s 90 degrees outside. I’m not ready for summer.
Exactly.
We hit 93 half an hour ago. Yuck.
