Ran across the late 80’s series Wiseguy on Roku. It starred Ken Wahl and Johnathan Banks on CBS and is credited with introducing multiple episode story lines. It’s a crime series with Wahl as Vinnie Terranova as an undercover govt agent working organized crime and Banks as his handler. Over the few years it was on, they had a lot of big names as guest stars including Ray Sharkey, Ron Silver, Jerry Lewis, Stanley Tucci, Tim Curry, Joan Severance, Kevin Spacey, and Glen Frey. While it had the usual standard undercover stuff, Wahl was always conflicted as he got close to the people he was supposed to investigate, which added a nice angst ripple to the stories.
There was one story arc, Dead Dog Records, where Wahl is working on corruption in the music business. This arc had never been available until a couple of years ago due to music licensing issues and we watched it all the way through over the last week. Still holds up and is entertaining.
I downloaded those when you mentioned it before, 2023 I think. I also got the record ones, with your help. I have not watched most of them yet. My TV folder is now over 5TB with over 13,000 episodes. I will probably never watch them all but I will never run out either. My movies are now over 10TB, well over 10,000 movies. I may be a bit obsessed.
That’s a heck of a library, Mac. Sorry if I mentioned it before -- old age -- Don’t remember stuff like I used to. Jump into the Dead Dog Records arc -- I think it’s towards the middle of Season 2. Don’t need to know what came before.
Still recovering today from last week’s root canal. The tooth itself is fine, but the dentist screwed up on the antibiotic prescription and I’ve been taking something I never took before and the side effects have been, er, unpleasant. The pharmacy blames the dentist for the mixup; the dentist blames the pharmacy. It’s been an uncomfortable several days.
The pharmacy is correct in this case and I brought it up yesterday to the dentist’s office -- they gave me the typical “thanks for bringing this to our attention and we’ll check our ordering system” response.
That sucks (or blows?). Oct of last year I was given a different antibiotic than I was used to and it messed my system up bad. I am still not completely back to normal, though the worst effects eased after about six weeks. I rarely have a bad effect from meds, and never from antibiotics, so this was a surprise. I will be sure not to use that again. I hope your effects clear up quickly.
Happy “Trick Cat” Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good afternoon, Sven, and Mac!
Sven -- I’m sorry you are suffering at the hands of medical malpractice. That’s got to suck.
The CFO of our school emailed me this morning asking for help with submitting a request for reimbursement of certain fees for services provided to a very small subset of special education students. Apparently our VP of Special Education still doesn’t know how to do it and dumped it all on the CFO who doesn’t have the background to know what charges are reimbursable or not and if the supporting paperwork has been completed correctly. And to top it off, the VP misnamed some of the files, associating them with the wrong students and entered the wrong dates on one of the contracts.
Thread pic: OK, that’s creepy.
Happy whatever day of the week it is, GN.
Huh. Small fire about 10 acres right below the Reagan Library. They knocked it down quickly.

Give it a shot if you are looking for something to watch. An OK overview of the series and its creative issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-c0FH6SUTQ

No criticism Sir. Always enjoy your thoughts on these things.

Good Lord! And this person is in charge of educating students?? Talk about malpractice.
It’s amazing what you can get away with when you are long-time friends with the Principal.
Do you think if we just paid more taxes to the Unions that it would clear all that up?
I don’t work at a union school, so the answer must be yes.
🙂
Harper says hi, we’ve still been making trips down to Mayo. Not sure I’ve decided if they cut the mustard or not….. (sorry)
I relish these conversations.
