Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!

I’ve been looking at my social security statement and just learned that at full retirement age, SS benefits are not reduced by earnings. At present, the crossover point that represents a benefit to delaying taking SS until age 70 (maximum monthly benefit) vs. taking it in a couple of months is age 82. I must think on this.

Off to the dentist to get a hole in my head filled.

Good morning, Paddy. We went over the same thing with collecting SS before full retirement age or waiting to get the larger amount. In our case, it was going to take too many years to make money off of waiting, so we double-dipped. I guess it depends on 1) How long you think you’ll live, and 2) How long before SS goes bellyup. You can always take that extra money for SS and invest it.

Good luck at the dentist -- I’m off to that as well as mine got a cancellation to work the crowns and since this is the last day our old benefits are in effect, I best do it.

Yup. This discussion is appropriate to the thread pic.

I’ve been thinking about all this as well.

And just when you think you understand how it’s gonna work… you find out there’s even more complexity to it.

Hi, Dv8 -- and just as soon as you do understand it, they change it and you have to start over.

My dentist appt did not go easy 2.5 hours in the chair. When I got home I found that Mrs Sven had fallen down some stairs but was mostly unhurt. Back from an Urgent Care -- she just broke a big toe.

One darn thing after another.

OMG! I’m sorry for you both and glad that Mrs. Sven is ok. I hope you are, as well.
