This year, we’ve spent money like drunken sailors. New washer and dryer. New refrigerator. New laptop. And yesterday, a new used truck. The appliances were all more than 30 years old, so we got our money’s worth. Mrs Sven needed a laptop as she didn’t have one once she retired. My truck was a 2005 Tacoma and ran well so the new truck wasn’t an absolute necessity, but I wasn’t confident taking it on longer trips. Anyhow, we got a bargain -- a 2022 Nissan with low mileage.
Not use to change. When I told my brother we bought it, his response was “So you were able to find a manual transmission, no ac, and manual windows. I’m surprised.” Sadly, I need to watch youtube videos to figure out how everything works.
Good morning, Sven. The truck I bought when we came to Texas was a 2001 Nissan Frontier. It was a good and comfortable truck. 5 speed manual and crank up windows but I preferred that. I sold it because it was getting hard to find parts and Elena can not use a clutch, so it would be a problem for her when I am gone. I did like it. When we replaced Elena’s car we got a 2021 Nissan Versa. We have been happy with it. I hope you enjoy your new truck.
Happy Saturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
The car we rented in Ireland was a Skoda with all the latest bells and whistles. There were more than a few times I pulled the owner’s manual out of the glove box to figure out how to do something only to read “refer to digital owner’s manual”. Yeah, I’ll get right on it. The car had Android Auto to connect to android phones, but after a few days it decided it would no longer connect to mine for navigation and would only connect to Mrs. Paddy’s. Later, it decided that it would not connect to hers, either, so we used the built-in navigation, which decided to reboot periodically. I did figure out how to switch between kph and mph when we crossed the border from the Republic of Ireland into Northern Ireland, but I could never find the trip odometer -- which would have been very useful. It also had an annoying clean air “feature”. When you came to a stop, the engine cut off. Touch the accelerator and it would start up again. Sometimes simpler is better.
Funny story yesterday at the dealer. So it’s the usual long day buying a vehicle, but once we start in on the paperwork, we overlooked that our home address was incorrect after signing a slew of documents. The finance guy was unhappy as we had to redo it all and we apologized several times. So it all gets done and we are walking out to get the truck, but Mrs Sven is looking puzzled and said that she feels like we forgot something. Stop, think, and oh yeah: they never asked for payment. So we go back inside to the finance office where the agent is packing up. He asks if there’s something else we need and no, not anything we need, but would you like a check? He had the grace to look a little embarrassed that he forgot that.
Good morning,GN. Happy weekend for those still keeping track.

Thanks, Mac. Good to hear you’ve had good luck with Nissan.
