A sad and prayerful day on this the first anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s murder. His death leaves a void in the Conservative movement that has yet to be filled, and America is the worse for it.
Yesterday was a rough day for Mrs. Sven. Today we leave in a hour or so for her scheduled every 3-month scans and tests and then an appointment with her oncologist Monday to review. She hides her anxiety well, but I think Wednesday was a bit of a breaking point for her. I’m glad she let it out instead of keeping it buried so I could help her -- so she remembers that she isn’t alone.

We got new carpet installed in the bedrooms today, so the week has been spent clearing things out. I had a couple of meetings at church yesterday evening, so we weren’t able to get the armoire disassembled until late last night. The installers were supposed to come between 9 -- 10 this morning, so that gave us some time to disassemble the bed (it’s a European antique and uses threaded fasteners with a round head with four holes in it to insert something like a nail into it to turn the fastener. It would also get me time to move my computers to the dining room and relocate the cable modem and wifi router. Unfortunately, the installers came at 8 and we scrambled a bit. It’s all done now, the carpet looks great, and I’ve got my computers set up in my office. I think everything else can wait.
Today is the birthday of both my father and my father-in-law. These two gentlemen shaped who I am and I miss the opportunity to share thoughts with them both.
