While I am appreciative that JimCo has had a busy winter and that we’re “allowed” to work -- thank you, benevolent and kindly Massa Gubment! -- I’d sure like it if we could actually schedule the biggest damned job I’ve ever landed.
Happy Wednesday, GN! Good morning, Fatwa! I’m off to a slow start today as i had to take a 90 minute sexual harassment course yesterday for teh bestest place ever and I started drinking about halfway though.
Meanwhile, happening to our neighbors to the south:
Five people killed and burned to death in Jalisco torture house
Oaxaca: Children aged 4 and 7 killed in attack on family
Decapitated head of missing journalist found in Acapulco
Morelos: 3 IMSS doctors shot to death
CJNG’s “Payaso” Flays the face of FM/Viagras Member, then taunts the victim who is still alive
Ver: Alleged criminal leader found in Sayula de Alemán beheaded
Guerrero: Missing Rural Police Officers found Tortured and Executed
Shootouts and a car bomb explosion leave at least 10 dead in Guanajuato
Several stories of how the cartels are taking advantage of the Chinese Flu to get some good press by handing out food and other supplies to villagers. Al Capone did the same thing during the Depression back in Chicago.
Happy Now is the Wednesday of our Discontent, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
i had to take a 90 minute sexual harassment course yesterday for teh bestest place ever
90 minutes>?! Did you learn any new techniques?
I started drinking about halfway though.
That is new. I thought the idea was to get the other person drunk.
Which set of rules are you supposed to follow? The Clinton “1 free grope” rule? The Kavanaugh “Believe All Women” rule? The Biden “Unwanted Touching is Allowed, plus One Free Penetration” rule?
I actually had to take the test three times before passing. Learned a new word: upstander. Using it in a sentence: “Don’t be a bystander, be an upstander and report it” FFS.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful Mrs. Sven with us. I hope she will decide to pull up a chair, (and let you hold it for her of course, being a true gentleman).
I am reminded of Churchill’s quote on war time production, I think it was …
First year nothing, second year a trickle, third year all you want.
I was not finding much if anything when going into stores, and an empty trip was just as much exposure as a productive one, so I set up to shop quickly online at Walmart, Costco, and now Sam’s Club. The last two weeks I have lined up a lot of toilet paper and paper towels, though all were delayed through April and into early May. The stuff is starting to hit now so this week and next I will back in receiving mode. I ordered a lot as I did not know if I would actually get what I ordered, but it looks like I will. I am backing off now, only ordering Kirkland paper towels as that is what we and the family use anyway. Toilet paper I am still lining up as I can but being more selective. It is amazing how fast things come and go. I checked Walmart this morning and everything was out. I found a few things at Costco, then by habit checked back at Walmart and two items were in stock that had been out just a few minutes before. I ordered them and looked back and one was already out of stock. I told Elena to tell her family I would rather supply them than have them risk going out hunting this stuff. We normally keep a large supply so we have been able to keep the other families supplied so far, and it looks like we will be able to continue to do so.
Now if alcohol will just come back, please. I use a lot of alcohol swabs when testing blood 4 to 8 times a day and when taking insulin injections. Of course the shelves are bare. I do see some online but people are asking 10 to 20 times the price. Luckily we keep a lot of rubbing alcohol on hand so I can use cloth patches or kleenex. I am into my last box of swabs. Another item I will have to increase stocks of when it comes back. We tend to use a lot anyway and it is not expensive, so why not?
Anyway, paper goods are available regularly online if you are not finding it locally, just just have to jump when you see it.
Thanks for the info, Gentle Mac. We’ve had plenty for our needs because we stocked up on everything in early February. We usually buy TP from Costco so knowing about the supply patterns will be very helpful because I need to order some and have it shipped to dv8’s mum. While we could buy a 4 roll pack up here, she’s two hours south of us in the city and is getting desperate to find some. She is NOT a happy camper! She walks to the market every day then comes home and emails me to tell me how the empty shelves compare to those in her native Germany during WWII. She is offended that she should have to put up with this twice in her lifetime. And, really, who can blame her?
I thought it would be the other way around with the big city having more goods to buy and the smaller towns up here where we live struggling to keep the grocery stores supplied. It’s a mystery to me.
They do seem to get them in regularly but they go out quickly. I lost a number of items while trying to make the free shipping so now I just pat the charge. You might want to put in her address as a shipping address before hand to facilitate a fast order if you can. I know I have my SiL’s address as an alternate shipping address with Walmart, but I don’t know if you can do that with Costco. I have picked up several cases today and yesterday so they do get things in.
About the alcohol swabs, Gentle Mac, go to your pharmacist and ask him directly if he has or can get some for you specifically because you are a diabetic. In some states pharmacists have priority supplies for diabetics that can be accessed as needed, but you have to know to ask.
If one knows to ask, you can even get insulin without a prescription if you ever need to.
(I actually fell asleep while writing this comment, Mac! I’m going to assume you find it anyway ’cause you always do. It’s good information for a diabetic to have)
Disclaimer: This was all done on teh livingroom computer/TV Laptop. which is not all that old but was really cheap and pretty much sucked from day one.
Good er, laaate morni…ok, really early afternoon and after catching up I think I need a nap.
I think I would prolly test positive for Covid 19 Fatigue Syndrome right now. I’m tired of this virus and kinda freaked out by what it’s doin’ to the country. kinda makes one want to “blow things up and defy authority”. If you add in taking one’s clothes off we’ve got the classic formula for a successful movie. As my lifestyle hasn’t changed one iota it’s strange to me that I’m even cognizant of the shutdown on a visceral level but I seem to be. It must be really wild for you guys who really live out in the world. I’m so sorry this is happening and you’re having to deal with it. You all have my sympathy.
Harper -- many moons ago, you posted a recipe for scones. I was wondering if you would do so again? Mrs. Paddy made cranberry & orange scones for Easter breakfast from a Barefoot Contessa recipe and that reminded me that I lost your recipe in a hard drive crash.
We will look for Plague’s scone recipe and post it on the recipe forum.
I have my own scone concoction that I make, which has protein. It’s really good, but still not quite as good as a real scone.
I really ought to make some of those. I bought some raisins and almonds specifically for that reason, but never got around to it.
The base is similar to my pancake mix, but uses butter as the fat instead of rape seed canola oil. Heavy Cream, of course for the liquid. Maybe an egg to hold it together.
I’ll post both recipes when we look them up. Harper knows where all that stuff is, and I’m not exactly sure which scone recipe she gave you. It might have been one from her family lore or from an old cookbook.
The Easter scones sound delicious, Paddy. I will help dv8 with getting the recipe out and posted for you. Thanks for remembering it and wanting a copy. My wording is getting awkward but I’m going to rely on you to understand what I mean there…
Hi Tex and Miss Harper -- think I said hello to everyone before? If not, HELLO! Tex -- Mrs Sven posted her setting herself on fire job interview story yesterday so you wouldn’t feel like you were the only one that’s had one of those. Not setting yourself on fire, but you know…
Maybe at some future point I’ll tell the one about finding a huge “booger” in my mustache after an interview.
43 dredlocks. Proceeding at a snail’s pace. Now, I at least try to get one (or more) per day. Judging by how big they are/will be in the back, it may be closer to 90 or so when I am done. Not too sure though.
It’s been like 2 months or more since I started this. I guess you could say it’s not too bad as far as a quarantine project goes.
But because of the long pace, I do have to tighten some of the older ones here and there. That doesn’t take all that long though.
And I stumbled into that no-formatting hell bug on wordpress. So I am entering a few more lines so my formatting will show.
This is owing to the fact that in this incarnation, the mix between dark and light hair is more like 50/50 rather than 50/25 like before. So I didn’t have quite enough light hair in my first order.
So now, I’m running low, and waiting for another delivery which I hope is not too delayed by the quarantine.
ebonyline.com is still operating, it seems, which is a pretty cheap place to order hair supplies.
Anyway I ordered more, plus a few things for Harper.
I. Am. Not. A Kitteh.
Hmmmmmmph, Mac! 🙂
Happy Whateverthehell Day this is, GN!
While I am appreciative that JimCo has had a busy winter and that we’re “allowed” to work -- thank you, benevolent and kindly Massa Gubment! -- I’d sure like it if we could actually schedule the biggest damned job I’ve ever landed.
Frustrating, it is.
Glad to have a signed contract, but still…
=========================
In our new America, contracts don’t seem to mean much. Here’s hoping you get the green light soon.
Thanks, man.
This HOA has a lot of leaks; Jim looked at two more just yesterday. Pretty sure they want to get this done ASAP.
Oh, Fatwa, I don’t know why that’s so funny to me — it’s not like I’d ever actually fill a dog with helium…but I sure would think about it! Heh!
As my Daddy used to say, “If it’s funny, it’s funny.”
That image would have appealed to his whimsical, macabre sense of humor; the mamaliga doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Here’s a video about option #2:

Thank you. I remember the incident but did not know most of this.
Count Dankula’s madlad series is very good. Plus he’s worth supporting because he makes good stuff and because he’s been attacked by SJWs.
Most people don’t realize that he was a complete unknown when he did his “nazi pug” video.
He only had a few subscribers when he made that video, like 10 or 20.
Happy Wednesday, GN! Good morning, Fatwa! I’m off to a slow start today as i had to take a 90 minute sexual harassment course yesterday for teh bestest place ever and I started drinking about halfway though.
I hope you learned some new and effective techniques. 👿
Indeed. My takeaway is to be proactive. Make the first accusation and then claim retaliation when you get caught later.
Bwahahahahahahaha!

yup….
Of course we now know what he’s whispering in her ear:
“You’re nothing to me.”
Surely they’ve gotten better since the late 80s. Surely.
Oh yeah. Such things can ONLY get better.
They haven’t and stop calling me Shirley.
…sigh…
Ok…Ms. Shirley.
Pfffft.

There’s one for Buzzword Bingo.

Hi Paddy!
HeroesStatist Goons in Blue in Lansing, MI are blocking freeway exits to keep “Operation Gridlock” protesters away.NWA was right.
Good old school rap reference.
Fatwa Arbuckle
“I. Am. Not. A Kitteh. ”
But so many of them fit, I had to look twice to see if I read it correctly.
Denial. Not just a river in South America.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful Mrs. Sven with us. I hope she will decide to pull up a chair, (and let you hold it for her of course, being a true gentleman).
Fair point, sir.
Nevertehless… 😉
To Mrs. Sven.
That was good.

Well done!

Thank you, Gentle Mac!

Was that Winston Churchill?
Or Ward Churchill? “Me and Liz Warren make heap big wampum……..”
Glad you were able to order some stuff, Mac.
Have seen a couple of reports that protestors in Lansing were chanting, “Lock her up!”
Good!
Funny how it’s mostly the Democrat governors that act like nazis.
Plaguie Accidentaly posted this two midnight oils ago. I was gonna post a link but I did this instead:
Here’s the link, anyway.

I don’t think I remembered to thank you, Dearest. Thanks.
I saw those this morning. Thank you for bringing them forward.
Hmmm, manners, dryer…

In light of recent events, I guess I had to do the following:
I tried (and Failed) to do this properly with the “GIMP 2” with the proper kerning and centering and such…
But I suk at graphics, so…MS Paint, it is!
I got pretty good at Paint Shop Pro, but I don’t have a copy anymore.
