I made brusselsprouts last week -- new recipe with them halfed, dipped in flour, egg, and then coated with grated cheese and pecans. In the end, they still tasted like brusselsprouts.
A Brit friend (who is a wonderful cook; I suspect they may have thrown him out for that 😉 ) once opined that Brussels sprouts could not be made edible even by dipping them in chocolate and rolling them in nuts.
Well, he got that one right, although we did eat one time in a fancy restaurant up above Santa Barbara where they fried them up and did other stuff to them that made them quite tasty.
Facebook must have found out I am a Trump voter. They removed four of my pictures last night. I have been using them for years, some over ten years, but suddenly they violate standards.
Don’t know, Sven. These are the same Photobucket images I have used many times on Facebook. The one of the Sun is a frame from the movie THX-1138 that I made over ten years ago and have used many times. All four were pulled in the space of a few minutes early this morning. One I only had the option of disagreeing with, the other three I opted for review.
Many things to be thankful for -- one that I thank God for every morning is being blessed with another day of life on this, His wonderful creation.
And I don’t say it enough, but I’m thankful for having found this place many years ago, for those that keep it spinning, and for those that still reside here. You are my friends. It has been especially good to see Dv8, and by extension, the wonderful Miss Harper again.
Sure Happy It/s Thanksgiving, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, Sven, and Mac!
I’ve only enjoyed brussels sprouts one time -- I had a sandwich from a food truck that included shaved, fried brussels sprouts. Other than that, they taste like chemical warfare.
Agreed, everyone I know has one and only one time experienced good brussels sprouts. Mine was in the UK at a friend’s house. Everything else was awful.
Pagans! Artichokes, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli are my favorite vegetables, in that order. Mayo with the chokes, butter, salt, and pepper with the others.
Got a heads-up yesterday from the property manager for Mrs. Shyster’s HOA; they’re allegedly going to approve our long-standing (and much revised) proposal to do the largest building on the property come Monday.
Good news: feelthy lucre!
Bad(ish) news: Will not be L.A.-bound for it.
Jim decided that -- given the scope-of-work and that it’s all on one building -- it makes sense for him to spend more time on the property “managing” it than he would if I were there so that he and I can pocket the savings in airfare, extra gas, etc.
Also won’t get the per diem tax deduction, but since I wouldn’t be getting paid for the job until 2020 anyway, pfffffft! (Pretty confident I’ll get out there sometime next year anyway.)
So, “yay”, but I won’t get to see the Svens. (Who are very sneaky people when it comes to picking-up meal tabs for wayward Gerbils who wish to take them out. You have been warned.)
Brenda and I hope that will be rectified one of these days, Mr. Host With Teh Most (And a Blue Gloved Minion).
Just got back from FTR’s where we had a lovely but exhausting time. Granddaughter and middle grandson like playing “Zombie” with me. Apparently, I shamble around and growl “Braaaaaaiiiins!” with sufficient verisimilitude to provide top-drawer fun-scary amusement.
Definitely didn’t overeat, but I’m pooped from dragging one leg behind me and twitching threateningly for much of the day.
Mighty glad I don’y have anything to do tomorrow except handle any JimCo-related calls and emails. (Of which I anticipate at least a few due to teh rain.)
I decided to delay my weekly Waddlemart run until Saturday to avoid the Black Friday Hordes. I’m thinking about keepimg a tab open tomorrow at WorldStarHipHop.com so I can watch videos of shoppers behaving badly as they’re posted. 👿
Happy Thanksgiving, Wheelizens!
I see that Mac’s thread spread includes Brussels sprouts. (Without which no festive occasion is complete; much like gefilte fish.)
Need some kawfee; BBIAB.
Happy Thanksgiving, GN!

Don’t diss teh sprouts!! Love em with butter and salt and pepper.
Heh.
A good steady rain has been falling since late last night. My rain gauge tho must be misreading as it says 6 inches so far.
Either that, or Weather Underground is way off.
Facebook must have found out I am a Trump voter. They removed four of my pictures last night. I have been using them for years, some over ten years, but suddenly they violate standards.
Those are three of them. I am really disgusted with Facebook but it is the only contact I have with many people. Damn.
Two were on a thread on Sulla’s page, so I hardly think anyone complained.
You Deplorable, Mac. Posting those hateful and triggering images.
Perhaps it was some metadata associated with the images?

Pfffttt!
Mac, your deplorable, disgusting images are always welcome here.
Thank you, my friend, and happy to see you drop in. More to be thankful for.
I feel sad that we won’t have a leftie at the dinner table today. I wonder if we can rent one?
Rent one? Hell, back in West (by God) Virginia you could buy one for a fifth o’ whiskey. These days you could do it for a quart of soymilk.

Teh Wheel has changed my life, and I owe much to you and to Paddy for my being here. I will never forget that. Thank you.
Oh, great! Blame me! Thanks!
In all seriousness, it is an honor and a pleasure to know you and to have been able to meet you IRL.
I was looking last night at a picture of You, Joe, and Tex on the computer at the Gerbilee. Great memories.
Is it OK to post it?
I’m fine with it.
Thank you.
Well said, Sven! I wholeheartedly agree!
Hi, Deplorable Mac!
I hope you and I can agree to disagree re teh sprouts.
Brenda said earlier that Facebook wouldn’t load for her earlier; perhaps they’re doing stuff while they think users are distracted by the holiday.
DHD / Teh Wheel / Teh Squeak certainly changed my life. 🙂
While I am categorically not intoxicated, “I love you guys!”
Every single Gerbil I’ve been fortunate enough to meet RW has been a delight. Serially. (And nary a single axe-murderess to-date.)
====================
That’s because you haven’t met me…yet.
But I have, and so has my family, and we all agree that you are not only a delight, but kind, generous, and a wonderful and gracious host.
Sure Happy It/s Thanksgiving, Gerbil Nation!

Teh yay on a big job. You had a lot of work and BS in that, nice to see it finally come through.
From the Gerbilee.
Livestreaming the Gerbilee.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you are having a splendid day, ’cause you just know I am.
