A happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
If it’s Caturday and April, it must be time for another AP Chemistry review session. Today I’m giving them an entire practice test in a single sitting -- 3 hours and 5 minutes of fun, fun, fun! Followed, of course, by grading.
Was watching this documentary on Lemmy (Motorhead) and thought this was pretty funny:
“When I was 17 my dad told me never to do coke. ‘Promise me you won’t do coke. Do speed, it’s much better for you.'” Paul Inder, Lemmy Kilmister’s son.
Well, it’s late because my computer got all commandeered and stuff, but Caption voting is complete! Our winner is Sven, in a landslide.
Sven, your prize awaits! As soon as we receive a money order from you for the s&h charge (a bargain at just $2,000.39), we’ll have your lovely Capodimonte lamp straight out to you!
And thank you to everyone who voted for me. I, sniff, am all choked up.

Happy, Happy Caturday, GN! I can say that now because in spite of most things going wrong this morning, everything turned out great! Yeah, I am still washing linens for tomorrow’s funeral luncheon ( Keith is not catering so I do not know if BBQ is on the menu). I am still barely able to move and we will barely make payroll and mortgage on Tuesday. Our linen supplier sent 35 instead of 60 napkins. Our cook had to leave early because she was in pain. I had to do extra set up because the supposedly eager, supposedly strong, 20 yo man took 3.5 hours last night to move tables which 2 middle-aged women moved last week in 45 minutes and I had a Caption Contest to get to!!!!! and I was down to 1 floor staff and the clients numbers went from 40 to 50. Where was I? Oh yeah. It all worked out. The client was so happy he tipped each of us $25. The guests raved about the food. Notre Dame still has the most players drafted into the NFL by far and PMK has a leg of lamb ready for a sumptuous feast as soon as he wakes up from his nap, which could even be tonight.
Well the Kings are playing true to form. They lost the 4th seed and home ice advantage earlier today when the Wild won. Now, if we beat San Jose tonite, we get 5th. If we lose, we get 6th. So we will either play Vancouver, Minnesota, or the Sharks.
Oh well, I goofed. The Kings won and took the 5th spot which means we play St Louis. Took them out in 4 last year. All three CA teams are in the playoffs at the same time for the first time. See? California is on its way back.
I hope the folks who run KFH&BBQ appreciate you as much as you deserve.

Don’t scrape too hard; you and Mrs. S. have been such gracious hosts on multiple occasions that you needn’t be such a stickler for rules. I mean that sincerely. Really. 😉
Greetings from overcast and Surly Larryville, GN! 😉
Moar coffee, then shower followed by trip to TJ’s; BBL.

Hai/’bye, Paddy!
Good morning-
Nice day so far-kinda sunny and warm. Working around the house today in preparation for next week’s BBQ.
Last day for the Kings tonite. They will either finish in 4th, 5th, or 6th.
Have fun, Paddy.
Heh. I’m killing it in teh voting for last week’s caption contest. Gonna look around the house today for the perfect spot for that lamp.
Here’s a pic of a very similar lamp, to help you in your decor decision — the finial is different, and the prize lamp has a more antique base:
It’s a beauty, and worth every penny of that $2,000.39 handling fee.
My god, that is like the most beautiful lamp I’ve ever seen! It is the Paris Hilton of lighting fixtures!
Yessiree, that’s one special lamp.
BTW, voting ends at 5:00 ET today. Vote often, vote responsibly!
Vote like a Democrat!
You mean for free shit? Gimme!
TeX -- I LOVE that thread pic!

Sven’s Fabulous Prize!
It’s the most beauteous thing ever.

Heya, Kate.
Glad it worked out — way to go, Mrs. Mgr!
Sven -- You should know that Fatwa thinks we can go ahead and waive that s&h charge and just send you the lamp.
In fact, he seems rather eager to get that lamp off to you.
That’s very generous of Fatwa and I expect no less of him. However, rules are rules. Let me see what I can scrape together.
