1999 – On Mount Everest, a group of U.S. mountain climbers discovered the body of George Mallory. Mallory had died in June of 1924 while trying to become the first person to reach the summit of Everest. At the time of the discovery it was unclear whether or not Mallory had actually reached the summit.
Hump Day compliments from Happy Larryville, GN!
Heh. And understandable, given all of the recent caulk references, TeX. 😉
Unpacking proceeds slowly for a number of reasons, but it’s in-progress; I’ll put up some pics when it’s further along.
Given today’s factoid, this seems share-worthy: Fight on Mount Everest
Hey…climbing Everest’s dangerous.
Happy Hump Day, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa! Happy unpacking!
That’s it. I got nuthin’ -- except a hankerin’ for moar kawfee!
Bracing for the heat wave-gonna get really warm here the next couple of days.
Kings lost ugly last night as their goalie returned to bonehead form. I got no faith in Johnathan Quick this year-be interesting to see how he rebounds tomorrow night.
GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE!
Greetings from finally delightful Bountiful.
I sure do hope y’all are having a super day, ’cause you just know I am.
That is all.
WOW, Jerry’s super intelligence is kicking in. Methinks that TeX might be having a less that stellar day.
Come on, sit on ol’ Uncle Jerry’s lap and tell me what’s wrong. That’s it. Snuggle on down. Wiggle in ’till you’re comfortable. Now, how are you?
Yeah, that wasn’t too hard a read, was it Jerrie?
The only reason I haven’t called my co-worker and asked if they’ve sustained a head injury lately, is because I’d probably suffer some severe consequences.
I picked a helluva week to quit smoking again.
Awww, anything I or teh Nation can do? I’m always up for an assassination or an assignation. No difference really.
As long as you’re teh shooter, eh, Jerry? 😉
Sorry TeX is havin’ a carpy day.
Hmmm. Both the former and the latter have their possible applications.
I must think on this. 😉
No. Do not think on anything Jerry proposes. I’m told I’m some kind of idiot. I’m just to stupid to know what kind.
TeX, what’s your Plan B?
That’s the problem. I don’t have one at the moment.
And with a husband only *just* getting back to work, I can’t do anything really stupid.
TeX, you could be a blogger. I hear there’s huge money in that. Orrr, you could be a freelance tech writer; my SisiL does that. She’s free-lanced for Bayer and a number of Pittsburgh located companies.
There’s the rub -- I do like my job. I like the people outside the organization that I deal with.
It’s just the caliber of some people’s kids that I work with that makes me crazy.
Heidi-ho, Gerbil Nation!
TeX -- sorry that you have to deal with the shallow end of the gene pool. I went looking for a cabana boy to deliver you a few umbrella drinks, but the pickin’s were slim (well, not exactly slim…)
Sorry for the rough day, X. On the other hand, I heard that TSW Admins make like $40K a year-that should help.
These squirrels in the yard have been eating these plants that I just planted. So I’ve been shooting at them with my Daisy .177 pump pullet gun. Normally, I pump it 3 times for a normal shot but have only been doing 1 pump when shooting the squirrels. Anyhow, I coaxed Mrs Sven into shooting me in my calf-wanted to see what it felt like. So she pumps it once, aims at me from 20 feet, and fires. She actually did it-she shot me!
Didnt penetrate my jeans, but busted the skin and bled. Stung. So I guess even 1 pump works.
Um, see my below post about potential vs. ability before judging me.
Gee, Sven, that was kinda dumb.
Seems like you are now even about Valentines Day.
Today was I guess one of those straw days after months of sitting back from my computer and saying, “Seriously?”
Apparently this statement I made was vague: “Please stop what you’re doing -- things are going to change. I’ll let you know when the changes are complete and you can start working from the revised document.”
When I let my co-worker know a day later the changes were complete and the revised document was available on the network, said co-worker proceeded to complete the original document.
Which led me to a full day of doing, undoing, and redoing essentially the whole damn thing.
And the reason I did that is, while I may have had the potential to use my words in a diplomatic and non-injurious fashion, I did not have the ability.
