Aside from that, I got nothin’…save a growing contempt for teh Beltway Basterds (sic). The needle on my Outrage-O-Meter has pegged so hard and so many times in the last few weeks that it’s bent at nearly a 45-degree angle.
I had a long conversation with a friend in NYC last night. While he doesn’t follow politics as closely as most of us tend to, he is generally very astute about people. In his opinion, Anthony “Squidworth” Weiner isn’t going to win his mayoral bid and might not even win the primary. His take is that while the establishment/pundit/media machine is supporting him, Weinergate “damaged the brand” as far as actual voters are concerned.
He also indicated that a lot of NYers are finally getting fed-up with the Tiny Tyrant’s nannyish ways. (Sheesh…took ’em long enough.)
I read this story about CBS report Sharyl Attkisson’s computer getting hacked and the speculation that the govt might be behind it. I busted out laughing at this :
“One question on the logic here: If all “possible indications of unauthorized activity” were removed, how do we know about this whole thing? (CBS News hasn’t yet responded to an inquiry from the Erik Wemple Blog about the name of the computer security firm that inspected Attkisson’s equipment.) Second point: Clearly the hacker did indeed leave some tracks, tipping off Attkisson to the intrusions. Is that level of ineptitude consistent with the work of one of the world’s leading surveillance states?”
If there is anything we’ve learned over the last four years, it’s that govt officials and agents arent as smart as they think they are.
Don’t be such a hater, Fatwa-it isnt good for the digestion and other such things. Look at me-I’ve given up my pogrom on LoLCats and feel much better for it.
My mother does not have a collection of Hitler Youth figurines. That’s just wrong, Fatwa Arbuckle. (That’s right, I used your full name there. You are in big trouble, sir.)
The caption night event is not really well attended. I’d like some input here -- what time/day of the week would be a good time for the Caption Contest?
Let me know in the comments, keeping in mind that I’m on Eastern time so 9:00 pm Pacific is probably not going to happen.
Whatever the majority decides. I don’t mind weekly, although I’m afraid I run out of anything original to say — but, if we’re going to do it on a weekly basis, Friday at 9:00 pm Eastern doesn’t seem to be a really popular choice.
I’ll go for whatever time is chosen. Sometimes I have things going on, most of the time I don’t. I just appreciate all the work that Brenda, TeX, and Mac put into making the threads and Sven and Fatwa put in keeping the threads alive.
Monday…gaaaaaaaaaah!!!1ickypoo!

Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
It’s the last Monday of the school year!!!11!!
Lot’s of cleaning and organizing to do.
Fatwa -- I was just thinking how little sense your comment would make to younger generations. Needle? Pegged? Why is it bent?
I R obsolete technology.
Best o’ luck with teh organized cleaning, Paddy.
Oooh! I haven’t seen a cat’s eye in years!

And good morning, guys! Good luck today, Paddy, and as the week progresses.
Fatwa: try staring at a nice piece of Capodimonte art-that always calms me down.
Game 3 tonite in Boston: series tied at one apiece. Been really good games so far and I think Boston might just be getting in sync.
While it’s still in teh early stage of development, here’s a RoboKitteh:
That’s an oxymoron of a stature similar to “succulent bowl of fresh tequila-infused vomit”. 😉
Don’t be such a hater, Fatwa-it isnt good for the digestion and other such things. Look at me-I’ve given up my pogrom on LoLCats and feel much better for it.
The hatred is fear-based; just being honest.
Because it’s difficult to not be terrified of carp like this tentacled cat holding music:
Or this hobo of very questionable gender:
Or this drumming tentacle cat:
Skeletal (and possibly deceased) hobo:
A fat, squirrel-feeding hobo:
Need I continue? 😉
Is that Capodimonte, too, Mac…from their “Suolo I Pantaloni Nel Terrore” Collection, perhaps?
Y’know, here I was just trying to stay awake during my HTML5 refesher course, and suddenly…a bad-Capodimonte-explosion occurs!
Seriously…
This thread is gonna need some housekeeping!
Can I have a beer and a sammich first, sweetheart?
WTF??!?
Mac -- I got this just for you!
Yes, that’s the one that inspired me.
Hostility. Negativity. I shudder to hear your feelings on Norman Rockwell paintings and Hummel figurines, Fatwa.
My mom has a Hummel collection. Not that that means anything; I’m just mentioning.
Norman Rockwell paintings = heteronormative patriarchal white male oppressor propaganda.
Hummel = horrible little cherubic Hitlerjugend figurines frequently sporting lederhosen und/oder dirndls.
😉
My mother does not have a collection of Hitler Youth figurines. That’s just wrong, Fatwa Arbuckle. (That’s right, I used your full name there. You are in big trouble, sir.)
Have you examined them very closely for delicately-painted toothbrush mustaches? Or little teensy red armbands? Twin lightning bolt emblems? Huh? Huh?
Just keeeeeep digging. Let’s see where that gets ya.
Um, China?
I got twenty bucks on China!
And you’ve been married how long now, Fatwa? Jooooos-the original slow learners.
I know, right?! And he even married a redhead.
Heh.
Hee!
Uh oh!!!11!!!
I truly cannot BELIEVE IT!!!
I’ve won for four weeks in a row now. That’s gotta be some kind of Caption THAT record. Huh.
What prize do I get for achieving this stunning string of victories?
Oh, and sorry you losers. Same luck next time.
You get a free trip to Happy Larry-ville, GA, for the lawn seeding & mowing event* of your lifetime!
*Good only during the months of June and July, travel expenses are not provided and will not be reimbursed.
Ok, I meant to address this last week.

True, but teh wheel aint well attended anymore either. I like the captioning-even tho Jerrie wins every week.
Seriously tho, thanks for all the work you do/did on it. Perhaps it should become a monthly feature?
Whatever the majority decides. I don’t mind weekly, although I’m afraid I run out of anything original to say — but, if we’re going to do it on a weekly basis, Friday at 9:00 pm Eastern doesn’t seem to be a really popular choice.
I vote for whatever time Jerry is napping.
I’ll go for whatever time is chosen. Sometimes I have things going on, most of the time I don’t. I just appreciate all the work that Brenda, TeX, and Mac put into making the threads and Sven and Fatwa put in keeping the threads alive.
Heh. Beta test screw-up or insidious racism? HP facial recognition/tracking software doesn’t “see” black dude:
