Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!1!Monday!!

It’s drear and drizzly here in Happy Larryville; perfect.

*Rolls eyes*

I was surprised to read a Chicago Trib editorial calling for delaying and rewriting Obamacare. It’s even critical of Il Douchey:

Tweaks? Obama isn’t making tweaks. He’s trying to circumvent major flaws that began flaring when the law was enacted. Hence the many carve-outs, delays and special deals that have been piling up since he added his signature to Obamacare on March 23, 2010.

The president crusaded for this law and has embraced its nickname. But he did not write the law. Congress did. Major changes are necessary — he has stipulated by his actions that this law as constituted cannot work — and Congress should legislate them for his review.

Bottom line: Let’s delay and rewrite this ill-conceived law. Congress need not start from scratch. Lawmakers can build on what all of us have learned from three years of painful trial and error. Three years of attempting, but failing, to make this clumsy monstrosity work for the American people.

Oh…four dead, fourteen wounded in Chicago shootings over the weekend; danged illegal guns. Need. Moar. Control.

When you’ve lost Chicago…..

I dunno what I did with it; I could’ve sworn I left it right next to Lake Michigan. Dagnabbit!

Today’s thread GIF is a reminder why Vibram™ soles are a goodness. (Is it possible that Mac’s a tool of Big Work Boot?)

I”m a Bad Gerbil, because this made me smile:

DETROIT (WJBK) -- The city of Detroit was hoping to make a big splash with the grand opening of a new splash park. But, to that -- you need water. Thankfully, Detroit firefighters were there to provide it after a water main break.

That story reminded me of a record my folks had of Godfrey Cambridge doing stand-up live in Las Vegas in the early sixties. One of his schticks was about having to stay in a different hotel than the one where he was appearing. He claimed there were two separate swimming pools at his hotel; one for blacks and one for whites. And that they were identical, except the black pool didn’t have any water in it…and the diving board was higher.

I recall being impressed as a nine-year-old that he could find the humor in segregation.

Here he is on TV in 1965; this is quite restrained compared with that record, but still somewhat amazing in historical perspective:

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
I remember the first hiking boots that I owned with Vibram soles (Roccia Block) -- what a difference they made! Even walking on ice was easier.

Happy Monday -is- almost -over, GN! In 6 hours I am heading north for some summer weather. PMK and I are going to pick up my Mom in Pittsburgh and take her to West by God Virginia for some sunshine and normal August temps. See y’all next week!
Maybe all the rain will have drained out of my car’s chassis by the time I get back. ( Not counting on it though)

You’ve got to stop driving with your top down! Especially in the rain!

sigh. I haven’t had 3 days of top down driving all year. This is really rainwater from the underside of the car that is supposed to drain away but has flooded the floor from below . Water washing over one’s toes as one turns is distracting to say the very least.
