The Smoking Police have struck again. Because BW smokes, her work (insurance) mandated her to a twice a week one hour smoking class. She missed one class due to taking a vacation day. So they are making her go to the company “Live Well” center where she will have to do a breathing test! Also she is mandated to get a physical from a doctor or her insurance go up. I think she already has to pay $75 more just for being a smoker.
We finally got our copies of the death certificate in the mail. The usual fill- in the blank form. A few boxes to check off whether it was an accident, car wreck, etc. Then there was a whole separate box related to SMOKING! It got its own box! BW went ballistic. Good thing the ME checked “No”. She would have burned the place down otherwise. Yes, burned it down with a cigarette lighter.
“First they came for the smokers.
I said nothing, because I wasn’t a smoker.
Then they came for the fatties…”

Back later, after a cigarette break.

Happy Father’s Day, GN!

Hai, RabBeet! Glad you finally got the death certificate, since so much other stuff is predicated on having one.

Gotta love the weasel term “smoking-related death”. If a smoker dies while skydiving because their ‘chute didn’t open, they may well be listed as a “smoking-related death”.

Also love the way that many states and municipalities treat -- or are trying to treat -- vaping the same as cigarettes in re taxation and restrictions, which strongly suggests that the alleged goals of cessation and eliminating second-hand smoke were always BS; it’s about control.

A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, RabBiT and Fatwa!
I hope y’all have been having a good Ramadan, ‘cuz you just know Jerry is!

I spent the day, yesterday, training youth and adults to work the archery range at the upcoming Cub Scout day camp. The focus is on safety and making sure the campers have fun. There’s a practical portion of the course where they have to instruct each other, catch safety mistakes, etc. One young man who’d never worked on our range before seemed rather timid. He wouldn’t raise his voice loud enough or be assertive enough and wasn’t communicating well enough when he was going through the practical exercises. We later learned that he is an adoptee from the Ukraine and has only been speaking English for six months!
