A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Kangaroos play air guitar? Who knew?

An alt-right group is holding an America First! rally in Laguna Beach this afternoon/evening. They’ve held a couple before in the same location, without any incident, but I think this time it’s going to be different. A local Unitarian Universalist church has organized a “Showing Up for Love and Justice” non-violent rally and march. Will all the counter-protesters be inclined towards non-violence? The flyer gives the following schedule:
2-4 pm Non-violent march preparation
5 pm Interfaith Vigil and Prayer
6 pm March for Love and Justice

Why do you need two hours for “march preparation”?
We’ll see what happens.

And sadly, the mainstream media is what is creating the story of America. It really makes me wonder about what I think I know about historical events.

Regarding Confederate monuments and statues, I’d really like to know what JtB thinks about this -- anyone have a current email address?

You guys know that I’m a long time Raider fan, but the Marshawn Lynch sitting on his ass during the National Anthem is really upsetting. The fact the Raiders allow him to do it without any consequences, that the NFL is ducking the issue, and that Lynch isn’t providing any explanation, all add to my frustration and distaste.

I’m very close to saying screw the Raiders and the NFL.

PART THREE

Sunday morning I was feeling fine. Still had pain on movement but I wanted to go home. My sister told me that I would not be released unless I had had a bowel movement. I hadn’t. So I lied and said I did (this will be the focus of Part Four).

It took all morning to find a doctor who could certify my discharge. Finally, I was free. I called Jeff to come from Arlington to pick me up. Now, in the meantime, Becky, Jeff’s sister came on Saturday with her dog that has a severe anxiety disorder. Becky left for Florida on Sunday morning, and Jeff could not leave the dog in the house because she would scratch the paint off all the doors. So he brought the dog in Becky’s Subaru. Oh, and the stupid dog can only ride in the front passenger seat, or she goes crazy.

I had to get in the back seat which is directly over the rear axle. In an SUV. With almost no springiness. I had to watch the road and lift myself up before EVERY bump and pothole. I may have expressed my displeasure at the arrangement. Loudly. Frequently. Forcefully. And Paddy wanted to hug Jeff!!! I went to bed immediately.

On Monday morning I was feeling good enough not to use the walker and go upstairs and downstairs. Even then I could stand longer than I had been able to for three years. Tuesday was even better, and Wednesday was excellent.

And then came Thursday! Dun Dun Duuuun!!!

More to follow.

G’day, Wheelizens!

Hai, Jerry; mighty glad to “see” ya!

I confess I’ve not even lurked the past several days; teh roofing job has been a grind due to logistics and I spent much of yesterday getting caught-up on annoying -- but necessary -- paperwork.

On teh plus side, we should finish the tear-off sometime tomorrow and have the rest of the materials delivered, so I won’t have to be directing traffic on the Encino Motor Speedway.

So far, the job’s going pretty smoothly and on Friday, the Board decided to do about $7K worth of additional work which is mostly cosmetic. (Doing it now will save them about 65% versus doing it in a couple of years…so that’s a bit of unexpected extra income for this trip; teh yay!)

Sven just called me while I was on another call; looks like I’ll have an opportunity to see him and Mrs. Sven while I’m here; more teh yay!

As re the protestors on both sides of the political divide these days: most of them ought to go jam themselves with pointy implements. And the media has largely become an enemy of our founding values…as well as common decency.

See ya’ll [sic] soon!
