Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Nothing says “Happy Caturday” like shredded turlet paper.

The front door lintel’s gotten a fresh coat of lamb’s blood; really provides a nice “pop” of color.

And some flies.

Hope it keeps AOD (and AOC) away.

Urgh…need more kawfee; BBL.

Heard you were unable to get on the wheel. I’m not sure if it’s because you’re busy or DNS reasons like I had. But you can always use TOR or turn your VPN on if you have that, OR use your phone with WIFI tuned off, and data turned on.

Happy Passover, Fatwa. Hoping that your coat of blood will keep you and Miss Brenda safe through the night.

Me and Mrs Sven took the day off yesterday and drove north. Stopped at a little market up above Santa Barbara for sandwiches and sat outside enjoying the day. The first week of Spring and the hills are already turning brown -- not a good sign.

Hit the casino -- made a few hundred $ and enjoyed our time there. Crowded, but with the usual protocols in place. A much less enjoyable experience as you really can’t interact with other players at a table, but so it goes.

A nice thing happened. I was wearing an American flag mask and I had three people come up to me and compliment me on it. We all agreed that this is still a great country.

Covid vaccines are suppose be available to us next week in our county. Thank you, President Trump.

Glad you and Mrs. Sven had an enjoyable (and profitable) time. I’m really tired of this lockdown theater. This has been the longest two weeks of my life!

More stupidity.

https://nypost.com/2021/03/26/nbcuniversal-is-scrubbing-racist-scenes-from-wwe-matches/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

“A source familiar with the situation told The Post that the Peacock is reviewing all 17,000 hours of WWE content to ensure it aligns with its standards and practices. WWE is also being made aware of any edits.”

17,000 hours = 708 days. Assuming an 8-hour shift, that would be over 2,100 workdays. Further down in the article, it says the expected completion date is August -- 4 months out. So that would be about 18 people working full time to get this done. To be thorough, you can’t really fast forward through matches, cuz you have to review the announcers as well. Is there a software solution? Maybe, but still a stupid effort for no good reason.

Kosher un freilichen pesach!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

Kid: Why is this night unlike all the others?
Dad: Because your mom has spent the last week cleaning this house like a whirling dervish, brought out the best china, and we’re d@mn well going to sit here as long as it takes to make her happy! Now pass the Mogen David -- I’m going to get fershnikit -- and diabetes.

Good morning/afternoon everyone. Greetings from delightfully spring-ish Bountiful. While I have always disliked getting passed over I’ll make an exception this time -- being the firstborn son.

Oh, and hi to Fatwa, Sven, and Paddy. I hope you are all having a super day ’cause you just know I am.

Teh Younger arrived in St. Petersburg last night. His shipping container won’t arrive for a few days, but that’s not an issue. The contents are just going into storage anyway, until he can find an apartment.

Doing some work on his old room/my new office. Replaced a couple of electrical outlets and I’m working on repairing the damage that the re-pipe company did to the wainscoting when they rerouted the leaking pipe some time back.

He checked out local breweries at every stop. Visited a former youth pastor, and had dinner at The Shed in Ocean Springs, MS -- a truly excellent Mississsippi BBQ joint.

Our local trash hauler finally picked up the mattress this morning that they were supposed to pick up on Tuesday. I called them every morning, and every morning they promised someone would pick it up that day. Why is competency so hard to come by?

We’re actually going to be able to worship inside tomorrow (limited capacity). Teh Older and I will pickup my MiL tomorrow morning to take her. It will be good for her to get out of the house.

And happy Caturday, Everyone!!

I’m still on the night schedule, which will make it difficult for me tomorrow.

A couple of days ago, we went to Cottonwood for Doctors and Also a bit of shopping.

Harper has an amazing sensitivity to light and so, for example, on her phone, she has the screen turned down so far that a normal person would think it’s turned off unless he looked closely. So, why am I telling you this? Well, in her nightstand lamp, is a 7.5 watt bulb. This bulb is now burned out.

At some point I realized that you can just get an adapter for the standard socket and put night light bulbs in there--night light bulbs are much cheaper. But, I realized recently, that I had such an adapter at one time, but accidentally threw it away when I got rid of my weird three-way night lamp that finally failed.

So I went looking for such an adapter at Home depot. Which they had. In a two pack, for some reason.

Now previously at wal-mart we bought some night light bulbs, but I decided to check at Home Depot also to see if they had warm colored night light bulbs that were LED. Which they also did. So I got a couple of those also. They should last a good long time. I hope.

Does Harper’s light sensitivity make it difficult for her to go outside during the day?

Glad you were able to find the adapters and LED bulbs. Those must draw less than a watt.

yeah, they don’t use much energy. And they look as nice as the regular bulbs.

I got an extra one for the living room lamp also. I’ll probably end up using that extra adapter I got for my own night stand lamp. I have a really dumb one I really want to replace, because I keep knocking it over.

Also, while down in cottonwood, we went to WalMart and …

Let me cut into my own story here and state that I realize this is not a very interesting story.

… bought a roast chicken. We’ve been munching on that for several days now.

I kept the bones and decided this morning to make chicken broth out of it. So I put it on a slow boil with some garlic and onions and a couple of other things and just checked it after about 8 or 12 hours-- I’m not really sure how long it’s been cooking.

I strained it and put it in a couple of plastic containers and put it in the fridge. I’m curious to see if it’s been cooking long enough to gel up when it’s chilled. But I should know in a couple of hours when it’s cold. I can use it for Ramen, but I’ll want to add gelatin if it doesn’t get firm in the fridge.

Chicken bones don’t take as long as others to get the collagen out of, but I’m not sure how much longer. Regular bones have to be simmered for 2 days but chicken might need only a day. I’m thinking 8 to 12 hours won’t be enough for that.

The End.

I made chicken broth sometime in the last few years and only cooked things for 4-5 hours. That probably explains why there wasn’t as much gelatin as I was expecting. I’m not sure why I thought it only took that long. Maybe from cooking shows. Who knows?

dv8

Yeah, I’m not actually sure. I could look it up, I guess. Also you have to have the connective tissue to get the gelatin effect. Plain bones won’t do it. That’s why store bought bone broth doesn’t gel. It just has the minerals and a certain flavor. When I make Ramen broth out of it, I add a packet of Knox Gelatin per cup. This really helps it hold on to the fat which I also add to it.

Still using TOR for the wheel.

I rebooted my router and TehSqueak is still not working. I’m looking into my own DNS solution. There is something clearly wrong on my ISP’s end.
