Today’s thread pic reminds me: The family of my bestest friend growing up had a few acres with a cabin about a 45-minute drive outta town. (Which was “country” back then but isn’t any more.) The property had a spring on it and the Fish and Wildlife folks dug them a “free” pond and stocked it, in exchange for which they had to allow public fishing one day per year (which they did…on Christmas).
Swimming there was much like the pic.

Got about half of JimCo’s letter to the State Contractors Licensing Board done yesterday prior to becoming so enraged I just had to quit. The “complaints” are 90% bullshit, and no actual investigation appears to have been done; the “construction expert” (who doesn’t seem to know building codes) simply documented allegations and recommended nonsensical “corrective measures”.
This leaves JimCo in the position of essentially having to prove negatives. Glad we meticulously photo-documented as much as we did

Mac: Sorry you have to look for work. Even if you get something unskilled, don’t be hesitant to ask for at least $15:00 per hour. You’re worth way more than that. I made that mistake for over a year. First time I ever asked for a raise. I have limited experience in the W-2 wage market, usually having some kind of business or other or subcontract, etc. But it helped me reading about the fact that guys should negotiate and/or ask for money and/or other recompense
Honestly, you have much more experience than me. And all the management experience you have should be worth a LOT. I’m not sure you want that much responsibility though, but I feel like you’re way ahead of a lot of us when it comes to the job market.
Watching that Cackling C**t Kamala Harris campaigning in CA for Newsom -- I’m glad that she’s taken care of the border and Afghanistan so that she can spend time out here.
When Biden kicks off, will she be worse? Yes, but so it goes. When Biden kicks off, it will be one down and another to go.
The polls right now favor Newsom not being recalled, but it isn’t like pollsters have a great track record the last 5 years or so. If he beats the recall, then that’s just the first shot being fired for 2022.
It hurts to watch all this unfold. I saw this coming decades ago--like 4 decades, I think. But I could do nothing about it then, just like I can do nothing about it now.
Did we see it coming and were complacent or did we never believe it would come? We all know that we are going to die, but do we really believe it?
I do think America as it was when we we were youngsters is done and that’s probably what our parents thought too as they grew older. But today, I just don’t see reconciliation between our warring factions.
Tonight I feel like America had a good run. Tomorrow perhaps I’ll be more upbeat.
