Different Dough experiments. Some failures made the dough way too stiff.

It just couldn’t take anymore.

Although now, I am a font of information regarding what works re high protein noodles.

I just have to get another pasta machine to put that knowledge to use.

sigh…….

My Kitchenaid Mixer’s motor needs work as well. I feel like Santa is going to pass me over this year.

That’s the saddest thing I’ve read all week.

I have a talent for painting a picture with words.

Kitchen aids suck too. They’re no longer made by Hobart, so they, also, have lot’s of cheap plastic parts.

Happy Trash Panda Sampler Thursday, GN!

Hi, dv8 (and Harper!!1!)!

Bummer about the pasta machine; hope you can find a good replacement on sale.

======================

I kinda liked Boebert, too…until she said this:

I find it deeply concerning that any government official would say such a thing in America; especially a member of Congress. And the GOPe said nada, AFAIK.

IDGAF how hard she was pandering for votes; that’s utterly unacceptable.

=======================

BK has a post-op checkup with the surgeon this morning. Her incision seems to be healing very well; we’ll see what the Doc has to say.

Good luck this morning, Fatwa and Brenda.

Regarding Boebert, her positives far outweigh any perceived negatives.

Was talking with Mrs Sven last night about PA electing Fetterman. My question to her was this: If there was a Republican running that was as disabled as Fetterman clearly is, but was a staunch 2A supporter running against a Dem, would you vote for the Republican, the Dem, or neither?

The same applies to Boebert especially in terms of 2A support. Regardless of her views on the separation of Church and State, as far as I know she’s never pushed for any legislation or made any other policy speeches about the Church directing the govt, would that one speech keep you form voting for her?

Good luck with the medicals.

That looks like a speech IN church. There might be more context to this. Just sayin’

one thing these inexperienced populists, including Donald Trump, have in common is the tendency to run their mouths in such a way as to give their opposition ammunition.

Say what you want about George W. Bush, he very rarely slipped up in that regard.

Ronald Reagan was also very good that way. But he had already been in politics for a while before running for president.

That is entirely true -- but even the experienced can mess up, usually through their arrogance. Pelosi and Hillary! do that on a regular basis.

I think it goes beyond inexperience -- Conservatives and those on the right are held to a higher standard by the public/media then those on the left. It isn’t fair, but Trump and those around him know the reality and yet keep on doing it.

ya gotta give ’em all credit for keeping on. And of course, there is that standard that is not at all fair, as you say.

W never gave them much ammo to use though. Much like Reagan, he very rarely slipped up in that regard.

Of course I love the stuff they say when they run their respective mouths. But it does cause them some problems.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), Fatwa, and Sven!

dv8 -- bummer about your pasta machine. I’ve had the same issue with the dough being too thick to extrude. Let’s hope your KitchenAid holds up.

Sven -- is Mrs. Sven considering getting that needlepoint as a tattoo?

Fatwa -- I hope BK’s surgical follow-up goes well.

Hi, Paddy -- she might, except for that sock on its tail.

Pasta machine update:

I was able to save the motor. that seems to be working fine.

Also the cutter attachement is also fine. Only the roller is totaled.

So I can just buy a roller, or maybe I’ll buy a kit with a different cutter so I’ll have more options.

I also have a pasta extruder option for my kitchenaid, but I hardly ever use that.

Mostly I try to make noodles for Ramen that have a high protein dough mix.

I’ve been experimenting with dough relaxers and compounds that make dough stretchier. I have evidently gone too far out of bounds with some of these combinations.

on the bright side, I’ve collected a lot more data on how to make these noodles just right.

Drive-by BK capsule update:

Post-op exam was all happy news. Wound drain removed, wound healing well, pathology report (including lymph nodes) all clean!!1!

Radiotherapy will commence next month.

Thank you all yet again for your prayers and support the past seven months; all o’ y’all do good work!

HeyHeyHey!!! The post-op was fantabulous news -- no more cancer at the site, and the remainder of my lymph nodes are looking good. I have a bit of pain, but it’s only a bit due to OUTSTANDING meds. I’m getting some energy back already, and feeling like I want to go do stuff just ’cause. Love all youse guys!

So I wanted to wait until I had real news about my sitch-u-ation.

I’ve finished chemo and had surgery, and I’m apparently cancer free. My remaining lymph nodes are good to go, and I’m starting to feel real energy again. I might, like, fold up my clothes or see a movie or something.

I still have recovery and then radiation (first, we poison the witch, then we cut her, then we burn her and STILL she keeps on) and more recovery and rehab for my shoulder and arm and I’ll be all done. Currently, I look a little like a skinny dandylion (hair is growing in curly and white, OMG).

Thank you all so much for your good thoughts and prayers; I couldn’t have done it without all of your love and support, and of course the truly world class medical persons whom I can never thank enough.

Special hearts for my darling Fatwa. I can’t imagine what I did that could have possibly been good enough to deserve this wonderful man. Also, Tex and Kate, Sven and Mrs. Sven, you are all amazing. Kate, my taste buds are making a recovery at an astounding rate!

I was wondering who won the mayor’s race in Los Angeles. No one knows. They still have half their ballots to count and it could take another two weeks. Good job, LA!
