Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
I hope Jerrie’s presentation went well last night and that those who consider themselves in charge actually listened to and considered his points.

Hey I’m confused. I never heard of The World, The Flesh & the Devil and looked it up; wikipedia says it’s a 1959 film. OK, digging deeper, there was a film of the same name done in 1914 and in color.

The plot: “An intensely unhappy woman hatches a plot to switch the babies of a poor family and a rich family. But the nurse hired to pull off this transfer refuses to go through with it, leaving each baby with its proper family. When the babies are grown, the man from the poor family (who has been led to believe that he did come from the rich family) goes to the house of the other and throws him out. The remainder of the movie deals with the frustrations of mistaken identity.”

Those are some good movies, Kate, but can you watch them beginning at any point?

For example, Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino is a great film, but I have to watch it from the beginning and all the way through. Now either Terminator 1 or 2, if I come across that and need to kill some time, I’ll watch it regardless of how much has already been shown.

I can, but I have seen them enough to know exactly where I am in the movie.

BTW, the Ed Abbey Memorial BBQ is on again this year-May 4. I sent out invitations to the increasingly small number of CA gerbils, but of course all the rest of you are invited as well.

The Kings are five pts into the playoffs in fourth place with nine games to go. No hope of catching the Ducks (up by 9 pts) who will take the Pacific Division and likely the #2 seed for the playoffs.

If the Kings fall below the 6 seed spot, I expect them not to last the first round this year. Fourth place would be good with home ice at least for the first round.

The weak spot this year has been at goalie. Quick, the hero last season, just aint doing it. He’s got a 13-11-3 record, while backup goalie, Bernier, is 9-2-1 with a better GAA and save percentage.

If it were me, I’d let Quick start the next 4 games and see how he does and then let Bernier finish the season.

Sad another school mass shooting, this time in Texas. Oops, did I say shooting? Naw, this time it’s a mass stabbing/slashing with an x-acto knife.

This shit is just weird. Makes me wonder what is wrong with the youth of America-not for the first time.

Well I’m whupped. Done with brush clearing. Got two truckloads of bagged stuff to take to the dump, and a wood pile down at the bottom of the hill that I need to clean up, but other than that, good to go.

Still odds and ends to do, but the big stuff is done. Used this electric chainsaw (Worx) that I bought last year on some dead trees-worked OK. I went electric cuz I didnt want to store gas-not sure if that was the best decision, but for small jobs it’s OK.

Anyone hear from Jerry about last night’s meeting? I did a search for Bountiful, old, guy, fart, and arrest, but no hits, so maybe it all went OK for him.

So there’s some big party going on with the Obama’s at the White House? I wonder if he invited his props, er, the Sandy Hook families that he flew in yesterday to support his agenda of blaming gun owners for all the ills in America. And having a big old party the same day that some whackadoodle stabbed a dozen students?

It’s a beautiful hypothetical…if this were George Bush.

I listened to the live feed on Drudge and enjoyed the concert. It’s too bad they didn’t think of livestreaming all the other concerts at the WH before. Sharing the wealth and our common, as in shared not as in vulgar, culture.
