Happy Hump Day, Gerbil Nation!
As review for State testing continues, today will conclude a two-day test I’m giving covering all the state content standards (using questions released from previous state exams). We’ll see how this crop of students does.
I’m tempted to apply for non-profit status with the IRS under a name like “Tea Party Jews for Small Government, the Constitution, the Second Amendment and Israel”.
I’m sure that won’t trip any flags.
I’m also finding teh AP’s outrage re the phone record imbroglio somewhat schadenfreudelicious; I’m a Bad Gerbil.
All of a sudden, the media has discovered the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. When it was the Second Amendment under attack, well, have to balance the good of society with the Second Amendment and make compromises. That First Amendment though, that one is sacred.
I got no love for the media in this situation. When everyone else was getting boned by this administration, they circled their wagons to protect Obama.
What I do find encouraging about this administration, is the way it has empowered all those low-level employees. They’ve given the grunts that actually do the work much respect and power. It’s like JIT and how it lets a line operator shut down an entire production line when they find a defect. Low-level employees came up with and implemented the whole Fast and Furious program; low-level employees at the IRS came up with the idea of targeting Tea Party groups and acted accordingly. I’m sure that the GSA scandal as well as the whores in South America, were all created and executed by low-level employees as well.
Low-level employees: is there nothing they can’t do?
Do we really want to penalize govt employees for thinking outside the box? After all, a law is not un-Constitutional until so ruled by SCOTUS and you have to pass a bill to find out what is in it.
These low-level employees ought to be congratulated and not ridiculed. Seems to me they were just following Obama’s lead.
Going through our homeowners insurance policy. Farmers is raising our rate by 140%. Have we ever filed a claim? No. Have we lost a lot of houses in our area due to fire or anything else? No-as best as I can recall, two houses have been destroyed in the last five years due to fire.
This comes on top of us having to cancel our life insurance policies with Farmers as they were jacking the rates out of reach this year as well.
Do you and Mrs. Sven have a first to die policy? You should not be carrying two policies if it’s just the two of you. First to die covers each of you until dum, dum, dum. If it helps, think of it as a last to live policy.
Look into USAA. We have all of our home and car insurance through them (I have checking/savings/credit with them) and we did our refi through them (3.25!), and it’s FABULOUS. The home insurance folks we had before were jackasses, and when our broker couldn’t find new ins. for us — USAA came through with better service and a much better rate!
I think they take non-military affiliated people these days, so you should be able to work with them, if you want. I just cannot say enough good things about them.
Thanks for the advice, guys. Will check out both USAA and the life insurance policies.

So, do I keep the peace or do I post ” Who’s the Nazi?” on my brother’s FB now. (Little bro said apropos nothing political -- no one had brought up the Tea Party -- ” the tea party are Nazi’s”. I responded ” no, we are not”. we both left it there.)

I’ve deleted two posts on it already, mostly because I do not want to bad mouth my siblings. I will make a private “who’s the Nazi now” type of comment on one brother’s FB but not tonight. I want it to be more snark, less anger at him.

Lastly, heh:

One hopes they feel a profound sense of betrayal and decide to treat Il Douchey more like the way they treated the Bushes and Reagan.
One would also probably be sorely disappointed. Which is understandable; Obama’s just so dreamy…
*Swoons*
Hope that Mrs. Sven is recuperating quickly from whatever bug got her.
Thanks, Fatwa. Mrs Sven is back to work but not feeling well.
The media ought to have been doing a better job since 2009, but they didnt. Will they do better in the future? Maybe.
They will. when a Republican is President.

Good question, Kate. Maybe when I become more mature I’ll know the right answer to that.
