Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Top o’ teh morning from Happy Larryville, GN!

K8-E --

Hope you got some rest yesterday.

Mac --

Hope you are recuperating well.

I wonder what sort of new revelations and/or Scandal-O-Rama document dump(s) we’ll see today. This is certainly farked-up:

The Internal Revenue Service official in charge of the tax-exempt organizations at the time when the unit targeted tea party groups now runs the IRS office responsible for the health care legislation.

Sarah Hall Ingram served as commissioner of the office responsible for tax-exempt organizations between 2009 and 2012. But Ingram has since left that part of the IRS and is now the director of the IRS’ Affordable Care Act office, the IRS confirmed to ABC News today.

Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
It was good to see so many Gerbils last night, even if I did read their comments after everyone went to bed.

Today we start a week of NCLB, goobermint-mandated testing. My cup runneth over.

My cup runneth over.

Wouldn’t this be a more accurate metaphor?

(It wasn’t easy finding a Wheel-appropriate pic when searching for “overflowing toilet”; hope all o’ ya’ll appreciate my attempt to be tasteful.) 😉

Good morning-

Good thoughts, Mac, for gum/tooth/mouth recovery and healing. As for filing your own teeth; I’m sure Chuck Norris does the same thing!

Kings won again last night off of a real questionable delay of game penalty against the Sharks. Down 3-2, they picked up 2 goals in 22 seconds with less than 2 minutes to go in the game. Series now shifts to the Shark Tank up north.

Been watching some of the IRS hearings. If it were me, I would have started out with those low-level employees that actually wrote the letters to Conservative groups and asked them why they did it, at whose direction, and if they felt any of it was inappropriate.

I wonder if the Southern Poverty Law Center will add the IRS to their list of hate groups.

I’d have started with the low level folks as well…if I could get the IRS crapweasels to reveal their names.

Re teh SPLC: hee!!

We’ve been watching teh hearings as well; I’d like to see someone on teh committee get mad. Like Josey Wales said, “…you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean.”

There was an attorney on Fox who represents several Tea Party groups that will be filing lawsuits against the IRS. To your point about naming names, he said he has the names as each letter was signed by an IRS representative.

On the plus side, after two weeks of scandals involving several govt departments, I guess that federal gun control legislation will be taking a back seat.

Don’t bet on it. In fact, I fully expect that immigration ‘reform’ and any number of other controversial measures to be moved on while everyone else is looking at the various scandals.

I can kinda understand how this IRS issue came about if the staff were working with limited resources. What I don’t understand is the wide variation of questions asked of these Conservative groups: wouldn’t there be a standard set of questions for all that apply for tax exempt status?

It’s just plain weird how this was done. I’d like to see some public comparisons between the questions asked of Conservative and liberal groups along with the status of each filing. And if there is a ‘pending’ bucket, what groups comprise it and avg length of time in the bucket for each group.

Well, but that’s just the problem. The same questions were not equally applied. The questions asked were unnecessary, intrusive and almost certainly violate privacy laws. The delays were deliberate. All of these things were directed at conservative looking orgs. only. Some of the information gleaned were leaked to liberal orgs. — again, privacy laws. It’s possible some of the info was shared with other government agencies, which is absolutely against the law.
