A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
I bet the cat took that last piece. That’s just what cats do.
It looks like we’re going to have a dry week, which is good if it’s followed by more rain, but not so good if we don’t get more. We’ve only had 3″ of rain this season -- normally we’re at 10.5″ at this point -- so if any of y’all are tired of winter, just direct it to the left coast.
Nice that you and teh Elder were able to try a couple o’ craft brews each yesterday; was teh wine beer a barleywine or something else?
…so if any of yโall are tired of winter, just direct it to the left coast.
I’d consider sending some of ours, so long as doing so doesn’t interfere with production of Vidalia onions, peanuts and -- while I don’t like them myself, BrideO’MineK does -- peaches.
I thought this concise piece by Wendy McElroy entitled “Is America A Police State Yet?” reached a sadly accurate conclusion.
The difference between America and a communist regime lay in its institutional protection of the individual against the state. That difference no longer exists.
With every passing day, I appreciate the wisdom of the 2A a bit more.
Isn’t that “the quicker picker-upper”? (Which, me being an old man and all, is a highly desirable quality in a “bath tissue”.)
Speaking of toilet paper, ChildBrideK went to Sam’s Club with Favorite Tall Relative this afternoon and came back with a brick of toilet paper which takes up about half of the total floor space in our foyer. (We should probably buy another ten+ of those for when this country goes full-on Venezuela; I figure we might have until September.) ๐
Good afternoon Gerbil Nation!
It’s nice to see Kate, Brenda, and Jerry.

It’s a blend of 25% Riesling and 75% Pilsner fermented with both wine and beer yeasts. It tastes a bit like a good hard cider.

Boy, was I wrong. No nap for me! I was just settling into a puzzle out on the deck under teh Orb of Joy when I received a call. From one our Knights. who wanted to know when I was getting to the Hall to set up for his event. Tonight. An event I thought was next Sunday ( it changed dates 3 times). Victory was mine however Pyrrhic though it may be. A few batsignals later I had a crew -mostly Knight volunteers -- and we managed to serve Shrimp Cocktail, Swedish Meatballs, Homemade mini-quiches, a Cheese tray with baked Brie, a Fruit tray, Roast Beef, Roast Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, 2 Gravies, Penne Al Fredo, Green Beans, Fresh -Baked Rolls, Salad, Bread Pudding, and not-homemade eclairs for 57. Only 10 minutes late on serve time too ( the shrimp took for ever to thaw). So now I get to relax and wash all the linens we used for tonight because I need them tomorrow night. Best Part is I have now already done all my work for next Sunday! Soooo -- DAY OFF!
Thank you, Mac. Not with nothing though. The volunteers were adamant that they are happy to help me out anytime. 2 of them came in and washed all the dishes. One bartended, one helped on the floor. Teh Daughter came in and did the table set up complete with centerpieces. PMK went to the store for the stuff I didn’t have already. Liz, our cook, who was having a really bad day ( car trouble) came in too.

That is an incredible feat, Kate. They really will start to expect you to do the impossible with nothing.

I think they’ve been sorta doing that to K8-E for years…although she may have raised the bar tonight. ๐

Cheers; sounds kinda good.

Hope teh adrenalin buzz has abated by now. ๐
Teh yay for those Knights volunteers who showed you some love today by answering the call!
I hope it lasts one load of linens more.
and BIG Teh Yay for my favorite Knights. They do so very much to help and encourage me.
Carp. Halfway through and my washer has quit working. Is it Monday already?
Re-jiggled the pencil pushing some connection ( a PMK-rig thing) and teh Washer is agitating in the good way. Might could make it through Monday.
